14U Stingers, Stingers, 2016-2017 (Stratford Volleyball Club)

The 14U Stingers won the Silver Medal at the Bugarski Cup, Championship division, on Feb 25th, 2017!  The 14U Stingers demonstrated outstanding perseverance Saturday.  After finishing 3rd in a very tough pool, the Stingers turned their fortunes by winning three consecutive matches in the afternoon against the Brant YVC, Cambridge Scorpions and then the Chatham Ballhawks in the semi-finals.  The gold medal match featured a very strong Georgetown Impact team against the 14U Stingers.  The Stingers fought hard extending the match to three sets, however Georgetown was too strong and the Stingers ...

The 14U Stingers faced their first Championship Division competition at the McGregor Cup in Kitchener on Jan 28th, 2017.  The Stingers placed second in their pool winning a well played match against Sarnia Twin Bridges Thunder Storm and losing to a very skilled KW Preds Synergy.  This placement led to a match against the first place team in pool C - Hamilton Smash in the quarter finals.  The Stingers played their best match of the day beating Hamilton 2 sets to 1 advancing them to the semifinals where they lost to London Sharks Great Whites.  In the Bronze medal game the Stingers played a ...

The 14U Stratford Stingers had a great day of 15U competition at Supreme Courts in London on Jan. 15th, 2017.  The 14U Stingers competed well in every set of the day and had the opportunity to play matches against all the top teams at the 12 team tournament. 14U Forrest City Green, who are ranked 10th in the province at the 14U level, took the Gold medal yet our 14U Stingers team competed well with scores of 23-25 and 18-25 in our match.  The 14U Woodstock Warriors took the Silver Medal yet our Stingers were well matched with scores of 19-25, 25-21, and 13-15.  A noticeable improvement in our ...

Congratulations 14U Stingers on winning Gold at the 14U Challenge Cup in Stratford on December 17th, 2016!  The Stingers played very consistently, serving very well, and making few unforced errors throughout the day.  While challenged during a couple of matches, the team impressed the hometown spectators by finishing the day without losing a single set earning themselves a much deserved pizza party Saturday evening!  Way to go Stingers!

We were all a little anxious going into our first 15U tournament this year, not sure how we would stack up against the competition in Petrolia.  Our anxiety quickly dissapated as we competed extremely well and won our first match in 3 sets against the 15U London Sharks Hammerheads.  Our next match against Sarnia resulted in a loss but we competed well with numerous long rallies.  In the quarter finals we lost a well played match to Forest City Blue and finished the day with a rematch against the Hammerheads, this time taking them in two straight sets.  Overall, the tournament was extremely ...
