Update
Hello SVC athletes and families!
We are hoping that all our athletes are staying as active as they can in a safe manner.
SVC will be developing a plan that complies with the provincially mandated guidelines to hopefully allow SVC House League Volleyball and SVC Competitive Volleyball to take place this year. Once this plan has been developed, it will then need to be approved by local authorities (health unit, city and/or school boards). This approval will depend on a number of factors. Further information will be posted regarding the club's status as it is available.
Please be advised that there are now some OVA beach volleyball play opportunities available in August. Details regarding these events are available at
OVA Beach Friendlies and on the OVA website under "Beach Competitions".
Before registering for these events, please be aware that teams will not be ranked, there will be no medals,
no playoffs, no officiating, and total playing time will be limited to 90 to 105 minutes of continuous play in
pools of 4 teams each.
Please be advised that the SVC executive is working towards getting athletes back playing indoor
volleyball. The club will need to follow strict guidelines put in place by the OVA to ensure a safe
environment and also adhere to requirements of our local health unit as well as restrictions that
are related to our practice facilities. All of these guidelines and restrictions will also be dependent
on how the current pandemic and expected second wave unfolds over the next few months.
At present, the OVA has indicated that there will be no competitive indoor team play between
club teams allowed until at least January. Currently details regarding house league and tryouts are still being
developed by the OVA but should be available later in August. Once these protocols are available,
SVC will need to discuss them with our local health unit and practice facilities to determine if we
are capable of adhering to these protocols as well as meeting local guidelines to ensure a safe
environment. If we decide that we can return to indoor play in the fall, there will be strict protocols
in place to minimize the risk as much as possible. Please stay tuned as further information will
be posted later in August.
